Remote Home Security with Kwikset Connected Locks

091409_tf_kiwksetsmartlock.JPGWhat if you could create a copy of your house key, but have the ability to destroy it in thin air from miles away? That would sure come in handy when your recently ex'd boyfriend tells you he "lost" the key you gave him...

Let's face it: There are few things more important to a homeowner than controlling access to their dwelling. Kwikset's Connected Locks, part of their Residential Access Control Products line, make you the master of your domain.

These smart locks allow you to lock and unlock your doors from over the Web. Did you forget to lock your door this morning? If you had Kwikset's Connected Locks, you'd be able to check it and even fix it from your desk at work.

Added features allow you to manage access codes instantly and receive e-mail notifications when a code is used to unlock or lock the door. That means you can create a code just for your neighbor's kid to get inside and feed the dog, then delete the code as soon as you see he's left the house. Brilliant!

Everyone in the blogosphere seems to think that this system will be pricey when it hits retail soon, but if you've got the cash, this seems like an innovation that's worth investing in!

Even without the web feature, I LOVE my Kwikset lock! Having one code for myself and trusted others and a second, easily changeable code for the kid coming to feed the dog is blessed relief to having keys scattered across two states.
