I'm right there with you on that yummy J.Crew bag, and I love that floater stand. But whyohwhy is that stand $300?? There's gotta be a cheaper (though equally stylish) alternative.

What about the bookarc as a suitable laptop stand?

I just got a spankin' new iMac, and I've been thinking about picking up an Apple remote. Tell me what you love about it.

I wouldn't use the Floater Stand because even though there also a lot cheaper alternative that just look as good but probably aren't as sturdy, its really bad to run your Macbook or Macbook Pro in clamshell mode as it requires to use the keyboard I believe as ventilation and will probably either overheat your computer or damage your screen or something like that, I can't exactly remember what.

I think that floater stand is hideously clunky looking compared to the FAR cheaper Book Arc. Why anyone would even consider spending $300 on a stand is beyond me, especially when they perform identical functions and take up the same amount of desk space.

I, opposite of you, bought the remote before receiving the spankin' new iMac (December 29th, ugh!).

The remote is milled out of aluminum, much like their laptops and desktops. Much more rigid and larger so it isn't lost as easily. I used to lose my white remote in my white sheets all the time! The build quality is exceptional. The buttons don't make that mushy plastic creaking noise like the prior remote did. I'd say it was $19 well spent.

Also debating on the remote. What I hate about the old ones is that it controls pretty much an Mac in the room. Giving a lecture to a bunch of students and running through a Keynote, while simultaneously launching their iTunes every 30 seconds, is probably a bad thing.
