Finding the right remote control for your home theater system isn't always easy, especially when they can cost as much as some HDTVs. This roundup includes all sorts of remotes. One of them will surely fit your remote control needs.

1. Logitech Harmony 1000
The Logitech Harmony 1000 is the benchmark of universal remote controls. We have seen this remote control on sale for about $250. This makes it an incredible deal for all your remote control needs.
2. The Apple Remote
No, this remote control concept isn't from Apple or Sony, but it would certainly look great on your coffee table. It's designed to look like a bowl filled with green apples. You grasp the apples and move them around to change settings on your home theater system.
3. URC MX-6000
The URC MX-6000 is a $1500 ultimate universal remote control. It comes with a touch screen and loads of programmable functions.

4. Philips Pronto TSU9800
The Philips Pronto TSU9800 is a multi-functional remote control device, which looks like it could remote control your whole house. It lights up like a Christmas tree and will set you back $2400. It's perfect for your dedicated home theater enthusiasts.
5. Eizo C@T-One Remote Control
It might not be the best looking remote control, but it will get the job done. It can control your media PC and a bunch of TV tuners and HDTVs. It can easily be confused with a small coaster at first glance, but it's small frame hides a lot of functions in a small form factor.
I had one of those heavy touchscreen ones and got rid of it. It was my husband's idea. I don't like touchscreen controls; I need the sensation of buttons. We had a Monster one and now, we have a Logitech Harmony one that is just spiff.

I've got the Harmony 1000 and have to say that it has changed my life. I originally picked it up to run my TV, theater system, and cable tuner but after finding out all of the other wonderful little things this remote can control it now runs my lighting, blinds, Mac mini and coffee maker. It's a fantastic remote and I've had no problems with it. I was lucky enough to get it at that $250 sale price too.

I have to agree with stickyricemama...I was in the market for a universal remote and looked at everyone from Philips to Nevo to Ricavision, and everything in between. I did all the research and found pros and cons for each. I ultimately got the Harmony One on sale for $185, though, and I have no complaints. I'd have a hard time recommending anything else, considering the features I got for that price.

I went through all sorts of trays/holder for the plethora of remotes and then I finally gave in and bought one of the Logitech Universal Remotes - http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/remotes/universal_remotes/&cl=us,en (I got the 550 on eBay for a Great price! Less than half retail)
I know it's pricey but, it controls my Olevia TV, Sony receiver, Tivo, DVD player, PS2, and even Front Row on Macs.
The cool things is that you plug it into your computer via USB and add all the devices to so as new products come out, they are added to their database so you are not stuck in a few years with an outdated remote and their list of devices is the biggest I've ever scene.
I Highly recommend it.
