Unplggd's Favourite Small Space Desks for Laptop Users

Our home office is smaller than any cubicle we've ever had to work within, measuring about 5'x6.5' in usable space. This means in our current configuration the area dictates we optimize every square inch for practical use, sometimes at the cost of aesthetics. This is mostly due to the fact that our "desk" is just a small piece of painted fiber board dropped ontop of two metal drawers, a modest, budget solution we're ready to upgrade from with a home office makeover. We're still on a budget and we specifically want our workspace to compliment and comfortably accommodate our laptop setup, so we've gathered up a few candidates for best desks for laptop users we're considering as possible replacements (admittedly, some aren't budget priced, but worth saving up for)...

I want that wall-mounted desk SO BADLY and have for years, but I'm confined to rentals for the foreseeable future and don't think the walls could take that kind of abuse. =( Some day....

I resonate your sentiments (re: wallmounted desk). :P

But see difference is I want to do it anyway hahaha....I just hope it can withstand a laptop, monitor and 15 pound cat :)

I recently was shopping for and bought a small desk and looked at several of these. The Ikea gustav and many of their smaller desks, like their tables, are very SHORT, though this could be fixed with some casters. I also liked the C & B Puzzle Desk a LOT (though it was too modern for my husband). Ended up buying the Ludington desk at Best Buy of all places. IT might be a big bigger than some of these but it fit in the room we use it in.

Thx. Very timeley post for me. DW and I are having "discussions"on this very topic. I want to ditch our huge oak vintage school teacher's desk for something streamlined and chic, just deep enough to fit my 15" notebook. She keeps talking nonsense about paying bills, writing letters, filing, and other utilitarian space needs. Sheesh! ~;o)
