It's one of those things people talk about, but that we're not sure anybody has ever really done anything about it—buying a breathalyzer for personal use. Sure, it would be handy to know if the guy who says "I'm fine to drive" as you're leaving the bar really is fine to drive, but nobody's gonna carry a massive breathalyzer with them while they're just trying to get sloshed and have a good time. The iBreath—so named because it works alongside your iPod—is small enough to stash in the tightest of pockets, but we're still trying to figure out why the designers decided to attach it to an iPod...
Just attach the iBreath to your iPod, fold out the blow wand and exhale into it for at least 5 seconds. Two seconds later, this gadget lets you know if you're within the legal limit to drive. Over the limit? It even houses a timer that can be set from 1 minute up to 8 hours in order to remind you when it's time for the next test.
And if keeping you safe and out of the jail isn't enough, this clever & innovative breathalyzer doubles as an iPod FM transmitter that transmits your iPod tunes to any FM tuner. So maybe that's why it's attached to an iPod—for the added functionality that we so desperately crave in our personal breathalyzers.
Just so you know, sarcasm was absolutely intended there with that last bit. We're thinking the reason a breathalyzer was attached to iPods was to keep the designer's drunk friends from plugging 'em in and singing along to Ice, Ice Baby.
Pick one up here if your friends are as annoying drunk as the designer's are.
Look. If you test yourself and can't drive, then might as well listen to some tunes over your car radio as you wait the 8 hours until your next test.
Seriously...who waits 8 hours at a bar to test their BAL again? It's time to call a taxi if you are that much over the BAL that you need to wait 8 hours before even the possibility that it's under the limit.
