In Style's February issue didn't list any sources, but it turned out to be relatively easy to find a similar look for a reasonable price.

The desk we found with the same X legs was the Wenge Three-Drawer X-base Desk at Overstock for $280. It doesn't have the chrome legs or the zebra wood veneer, but the cost would skyrocket if we found that combination somewhere, we're sure.

Next was the lamp. Because we didn't find an X-base desk with chrome legs, it would help to bring in some shine on the lamp base. Above are three options (L to R): the $80 Luster Gold Glass Lamp from Target; the Silver Rain Urn Table Lamp, for $56 at Target (we think the lighting in the pic makes it seem gold when it's actually silver, though we can't guarantee); and the shiny Vanderbilt Table Lamp, at Overstock for $70. The Tapered Olive Vase affects the choice of lamp because of it's height: 18" (available at Target on-line for $40). To get the same balance as the Hotel de Rome, the Vanderbilt lamp has to be the choice, at 28", because the other two are less than 18" high--though they are truer to the form of the urn lamp in the hotel example.

As for the two chairs, we found the Orange Locker Chair at Overstock for $160 for a set of 4, and the Axium Dining Chair, also from Overstock, for $150/pair. Putting the extras on Craig's list is a way to make back money on chairs you don't need if you end up buying more than 1 at a time to get what you really want.

Finally, the mirrors. A horizontal triptych of mirrors can be created in almost any space, but In Style recommends that the mirrors never be longer than the length of the object they are above. This silvertone, Foil Finished Hall Mirror from Target fits the bill, as it brings shininess to the setup that the desk doesn't have in our example The mirror is $40 and 52" long (the desk is 59" wide).

And of course, this being a home technology site, the replica wouldn't be complete with recommendations for outfitting the desk: the telephone should be the Prada phone by LG, and the notebook computer, a MacBook Air, with a Logitech V200 wireless optical mouse. A wireless router for both internet and printer will keep the look streamlined and almost entirely cord free.
