Framing Your Flat Panel

Steve Miller of Teo Flatwear sent us some photos of his company's newest flat screen mounting accessories that aesthetically bridge the gap between mounting a set directly onto bare wall and having a large home entertainment cabinet. What's nice about these 2" thick wall units is they provide additional shelving while warming up the presence of a flat panel in similar fashion to that of a fireplace. The wall mounts are available in sizes to accomodate from 32" to 70", and come in finishes like Zabri Wood, Cherry, metallic and even custom finishes...

What's interesting to note is that the design trend in flat panel televisions is to directly incorporate these type of finishes directly into the frame. This past year's CES was filled with concept units with exotic wood finishes, lacquer and tinted metals that recognize customers are looking for flat panels that blend into decor instead of making themselves glaringly apparent. These type of wall units are a good compromise in the meantime, giving an attractive frame around flat sets and take advantage of the increasingly thin size and lighter weights of newer LCD screens (plasma, as much as we love their dark darks, comes at the price of a heavier weight). Pretty neat concept. I didnt totally get from the article but I checked the website and got more info. Seems easy enough and relatively inexpensive.
