I just use a bulldog clip attached to my wires and I've never had any problems with them falling through the grommet. Or the Wallace for that matter.

I have a desk and a table I can clip a large binder clip to (the black kind with silver wire tabs) - I feed my cord through that and then plug it in - it stays right where I want when I'm not using it.
