Leica Mini Digital Camera

This miniaturized Leica also has a small pricetag. Minox has shrunk their renowned camera into a digital version with 5.0 megapixels. Via: GeekSugar

2007-12-3-leica2.jpegYes, it's cute, but unlike its predecessor, it's not much more than a simple point and click. It is, however, well within the range of an affordable camera, for $225 at Urban Outfitters, but we'd wager you're paying for style over substance.

amazon has it for $115 (and two "1 star" reviews).

i did some research on this because i thought it was a cool little camera. i have two issues though: there is no flash (though you can buy one to attach) and i don't know if it has an optical zoom (the specs only state a digital zoom).

johnp - i saw the camera on amazon for $199 with one 4-star customer review (search for "MINOX DCC Leica M3 5MP Digital Camera").

Leica makes the best lenses (always glass) in the business and arguably some of the best film cameras. Their new digital cameras are not too shabby either.

Panasonic makes digital cameras with a Leica lense on them. I got one for my husband a couple years ago, he loves it.

Good to hear - I'm shopping for a digital camera now, and i've decided on a Panasonic Lumix FX33. I was also looking at the Canon SD1000, but was swayed by the Leica 28 mm lens on the Panasonic. I'm going on a couple trips soon, so the wide angle lens should be nice to have.

Apparently the Leica C Lux digital cameras (which they sell at the Conran shop) and the Panasonic Lumix FX cameras are basically the same cameras, just with slightly different shells and different internal software. If you look at them side to side, they look to be nearly identical.
