apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

#4 - Cathrine's Home-y Office

Name: Cathrine
Location: Bellevue, WA
A/V or Home Office: Home Office

Favorite Source: Real Simple Magazine, Target

What inspired you? I am the most organized person I know. My skill came in handy when my husband and I lived in a 700 sq ft apartment in Seattle. My closets are organized by color, sleeve size, weather type.

...My hobbies such as stamp-it products are organized in a Pottery barn bedford filing cabinet, shoes, in transparent plastic boxes. :) you get the point...I now live in a 2 bedroom and our guest room doubles as my husband's office and our bedroom as my workspace/hobby space. I wanted the room to look like a bedroom and not an office and am happy with what I have.

Great Tip: Every item must have a place and space. Small and loose items all must go in one place and should not clutter up other clean, well laid spaces.

seems pretty basic. i'm surprised to see a jacket thrown over the chair, things under the desk, and cords and things strewn about in entry photographs.

This is an iMac on a desk. This is not a small/cool tech setup.

I am enjoying this new addition to AT.
I just finished perusing Terramia's collection of desk spaces on her blog- inspiring.
The art in the room is my favorite.

If you are the most organized person you know, I'd hate to see your friends' and family members' home offices.

Well, I posted this on behalf of my wife. Could not find my camera and sent the old pictures I had taken before we rearranged.

New Setup - >
1. The bottom portion of the desk is covered with container store items that keep the stamp-it-up stuff organized. This forms an L-Shaped area underneath the desk and still has enough room for the legs.
2. Have an extended Pottery Barn desk white as an extension
3. No wires are visible and desk is clean and clutter free now. since contest is over, i cannot send new pictures. I was supposed to send the new nes.

Anne in Chicago, Maintain civility in the forums. There is no need for any snarky comments here.

Yeah Anne.. that made me "grrr" when I read it - as soon as I read " I am the most organized person I know" I laughed and scrolled down to ensure no-one else was as clever as me...

alas you are. Well done :)

Where is the small or the cool (or the tech for that matter - you don't even have a wireless set up) ???

Too bad you missed the deadline for getting photos of your new set up posted -- the cutter in these pictures completely contradict your pitch.

However, even with a new set-up, it would still be lacking in the cool or tech areas. A computer on a desk (even a mac on an organized one) isn't my definition of cool tech.
