Flock

2007-04-09-flocklogo.jpgWe are loving this browser. Many of you already use the net to share your homes with the world, develop your style, and become a part of a home-concious community. Flock lets us keep track of all these pursuits. If you're a fan of Firefox, but can't live without your Flickr, del.icio.us, and blogging account, then this is the browser for you.

Based on the same technology behind Firefox, it has much the same look and functionality. However, if you are like us, and use a lot of the popular web media sharing sites, Flock is indispensible. It brings together the best tools of the web and integrates them into one seamless package. Our personal fave is the Flickr browser at the top of the window, where you can easily scroll through your (or your friends) images. Uploading your photos is a breeze with a drag and drop uploader. You won't believe how easy it is share your photos and see others without having to navigate the web.

Flock also revolutionizes the taming all of the information you find on the web. By simply marking a website with the star in the address bar, it is added to your del.icio.us account. Additionally, saving anything you find on the web is made easy with the Snippits toolbar at the bottom of the window. Anything from a line of text to a photo of a chair you want to buy is fair game.

If you're a blogger, you will be amazed at how much more efficient you will become. Plus, it supports a variety of blogging softwares and you can blog right from your Flock window.

And, best of all, it just makes the web a little more fun and social. Try it out by downloading it here. We think you'll love it.

The only drawback to Flock is it's based off of Firefox 1.5, and the spell checking functionality wasn't implemented till Firefox 2.0.... which, to be honest, is the only reason I still use Firefox over Flock.

I've been using Flock since the beginning of the year. Before that I'd been using Firefox. Reason? Safari just began to seem pokey. Because of my addiction to taking photos and my blogging and Twitter, Flock seems to be the perfect browser for me. BTW, is anyone here on Twitter and/or Jaiku? If so, we could follow one another...

ebrown- Can you tell us why you like Twitter? I played around with it for a day or two, but never caught onto the craze. Does it allow you to do anything useful? It seems like a cool service, but I could find a use for it in every day life. Or maybe not enough of my friends are geeked out enough to make it interesting. :)

I think that's just revolutionary.
That's the way to get more self-conscious: sharing and sharing informations and other things. And Flock is one great tool to do it.

I'm not sure Twitter is useful. There are some news feeds and a I've seen a few commercial efforts, which I just ignored. It's mainly fun. I've made some friends with whom I now have "blog" and "e-mail" conversations. I'm "reading" (rather haphazardly) James Joyce's Ulysses there. I find out about new tech and what's rocking the geek net right now. I have my twitter feed on my blog so it's like a tiny peek at what I'm doing at any given moment that I think to Tweet. I usually just keep Twitter Post on my desktop and dip in when I have a moment. In fact, I think I'll tell Twitterville that I just posted this.

btw, there's a migration from Twitter to Jaiku which began this weekend. For once I was way ahead of the mob.
