Pottery Barn's Cord Hiding Furniture

2007-07-20-PBsmart.jpgPottery Barn calls it Smart Technology; though we think it should be called Smart Furniture, it's still a great idea nonetheless. The goal is to more seamlessly integrate portable technology into your home. It includes products in their Samantha, Bedford, and Montego lines.

There are two items we've seen that we're especially enamored with; the first is pictured above the jump here (and the second, the Leah Desk, is after the jump)...

2007-07-20-bedfordcharging.jpgThe Bedford Smart Recharging Station retails for $79, and comes in White, Black and a stained Mahogany.

The charging station has Pottery Barn's classic styling, with room for up to 4 items to be charging. The drawer provides room for stashing items, such as bills. We could see this piece working well on a landing strip--or as a mini-landing strip.

The second item is the Leah Desk, which we love both the style and functionality of. The functionality can be seen in the "Smart Technology" collage of pictures at the beginning of the post, on the lower right.

What we're left wondering is why it took vendors so long to come up with more ideas like this?

What would seriously be awesome is if that mirror in the Leah desk were a flat screen monitor. Wonder how hackable it is...
