As we celebrate the great outdoors this month, we're on the lookout for gadgets and gizmos designed to help you improve the quality of your outdoor space- this weather-resistant, indoor/outdoor wireless speaker from Brookstone certainly fits the bill. With a 150-foot broadcast range, this wireless speaker system transmits a rich omnidirectional sound through walls, floors, and ceilings...

The speaker system works by attaching a transmitter to your stereo system or portable MP3 player. All the controls are conveniently located on the speaker, eliminating the need to frantically dash indoors to lower the adjust the volume when/if the neighbors complain...

The $150 Brookstone weather-resistant wireless speaker features include:

  • 900MHz technology

  • Phase Lock Loop circuitry to automatically keep a clear audio signal without tuning

  • Three audio channels to prevent interference with other cordless devices

  • Blue lighting to illuminate the wireless outdoor speaker at night

  • 5" woofer and 1" tweeter

  • AC adapter (also runs on 8 D batteries)

I have the precursor to this, the Advent AW-810 wireless speaker. (Google it.)

I can't believe they're still using 900MHz for this. It's ridiculous; you get station fade constantly and always need to keep fine tuning it. Go with something digital in the 2.4GHz or 5GHz range, and for cripes sake charge less for it.
