Are You a Tech Minimalist?
Survey

102709_minimal_tech.jpgLast week we saw Gregory featured on the New York Times, where he spoke candidly about living minimally with tech (in his case, life sans the cellular). Though primarily due to a constrained budget at the time, in time has morphed into an ongoing lifestyle. So, in the spirit of living like a technophile-minimalist, we'd like to open it all up to our readers. Do you consider yourself an electronics aggregator or one that carefully plans out an entire spreadsheet of plus/minuses before adding another piece of technology into their life?

Personally, I have a hard time myself keeping my purchasing fingers off that Checkout button online when it comes down to consumer goodies. I tend to purchase a number of different headphones (some cheap, some not so much), but use my desktop speakers to listen to my music about 90% of the time.

Then again, this observation only came about after the fact, so I guess it could be considered a worthy investment in the spirit of self-acknowledgment of a personal headphone addiction, yeah?

What kind of mouse is that? Looks like it has a color picker on it.

I like new gadgets but I keep it to a minimum at times. I currently only own a custom built desktop and a smartphone. I still have all the old CRT televisions I've had for years. Just waiting for the right moment to purchase a newer Flat Screen tele. I'm not exactly a minimalist but I don't have the latest and greatest either.

Fairly minimalist. No cell phone, just a laptop and iPod. I do have several cameras, but I don't tend to think of them as gadgets.

I aspire to be minimalistic but real life stubbornly contradicts my ideals

I try to keep it under control by only buying attractive quality electronics, but I'm an admitted tech nerd. I'm pretty proud to say my desktop is four years old, which in the circles I run in merits gasps.

And while I'd happily live without a cell phone BILL, I have a hard time understanding not wanting a phone for even the most basic of functions like calling 911 in case of an emergency, or a tow truck if your car breaks down, etc.
