The breadth of quality, national and internet-based electronics stores is lacking--there are only so many stores we want to recommend to you--but we know you have local resources you love.
Over the coming weeks and months, we want to feature those local resources that you, our faithful readers, recommend, because chances are, there are other people in your area who can benefit. It will also give the rest of us a glimpse into your world, and into what kind of service to expect from our own home-town electronics hero.

My favorite local niche store is Goodwill Computer Works. https://www.austincomputerworks.org Walking inside is like stepping into a beautifully geeky time warp...It has all sorts of nifty vintage computer parts in stock. Older, working computers... Not so working, but ready to be parted out computers. Gently used keyboards and mice. Ancient software (scored some Windows 3.1 disks not too long ago). For a while, they had oodles of Mac Pluses. I bought a tan Mac Plus carrying bag from there that I use as an overnight bag. And the store houses a computer museum!
My favorite online store is NewEgg. Competitive prices, consumer reviews, fast shipping. What's not to love?
