Survey: Airplane WiFi a Good Idea?

112408_an_airplane_wifi.jpgWe're not the only ones addicted to the internet. Business folk and Facebook addicts alike are looking for more and more places where they can connect, check their favorite blogs, and get that sweet feeling when their inbox is filled with anonymous messages. So it should be no surprise that Virgin Air is attempting to cater to this particular crowd by officially announcing their in-flight WiFi service in the next coming months. We're still kind of uncomfortable when the possibility with the airplane plummeting from our internet browsing, but it certainly sounds convenient and would alleviate much boredom on long flights. What do you guys think?

As far as details go, the Wi-Fi service does come with a premium of $9.95 for flights of three hours or less and $12.95 for flights more than three hours. Pretty steep for a few e-mails and chatting, but we're sure addicts might see past all that.

However, for the more paranoid (us), we're glad to hear that you still can't use cell phones when the lights come on and VoiP services will be banned due to consideration of your neighbors. Still, the idea sounds promising, and we'd love to hear from our readers their opinions on all this.

Tango with Death?? How does browsing the internet make the airplane plummet? This equation is absurd. Airplanes are already around wi-fi networks, especially when taking off from or landing at an airport with wi-fi (most of them). Having the network available when the plane is cruising sounds just wonderful!
