Survey: Do Use Technology to Help You Sleep?

We just told you about software to help you sleep, and now we want to know, what, if any, technology helps you sleep. Do you use headphones (perhaps to balance out the needs of a partner), a sleep machine, a fan, or do you need total quiet?

And although this next question isn't a part of the survey below, do you have to have total darkness, or does the light from your alarm clock/AC unit/hall light not bother you?

I have a setting on my alarm clock with ocean noises...it's so wonderful to fall asleep to.

I listen to classical music using the timer on the radio; it goes off after an hour.

Ohhhh... sleep troubles here!! I've learned to sleep with the TV on sound turned to barely audible. Sometimes I feel guilty about the energy use/cost but when I've tried other soothers my brain just starts spinning and sleep is lost. I need the visual and low auditory stimulation plus a little medication to soothe my restless brain. Do what works for you!!

I've worked hard at getting insomnia beaten down. Basically, I've had to condition myself to sleeping - took a lot of methodical work over many months, but I've had amazing results. There are many books on the subject, but I've had great success with Jacobs' 'Say Goodnight to Insomnia'. My average hours of total sleep per night went from 4-5 hours a couple years ago (which is waaaaay too little for me - I felt dysfunctional for years), to 7 hours today. I've been sleeping easily for nearly two years now. That improvement beats the record of most sleep clinics, and I did it with just the methodical application of the principles in this book. No drugs.

I use a iHome with either a white noise track on my iPod, or music.

I use a machine for my sleep apnea and ear plugs.

I use a sound machine set to white noise. Sometimes, if it is windy out, I use the wind setting so that the gusts aren't so noticeable.

I would really love a zen alarm clock or one that lights up before the alarm goes off.

PINK noise makes all the difference for me. i use a looping 30 minute clip i made.
