Survey: Do You MySpace/Facebook/Something Else?

2007-07-26survey.jpgDo you have a page on MySpace or Facebook? How often do you post, or do you just visit other people's pages? Or, maybe you're like one of us, who pretty much just stays out of the way entirely. How long have you been on those sites?

I have a MySpace page, back when the site was first starting up, just to see what all the hype was about. I haven't "pimped" my page at all and only check it about once a week or so to see if any of my old friends have tried to contact me.

I also have a Facebook page, which I'm mainly using for career interests. I'm in a bit of a specialized field, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), so the more people you know and the more resources you have, the better. I check this one more often, primarily so I can check out the job postings in a couple of GIS groups to see what skills are in demand, but have few friends on my list.

Another answer of "BOTH" would have been convenient.

I'm another who would have answered both had the option been given.... because I have accounts on both and visit both regularly, though I tend to frequent Facebook more than MySpace.

I use both and what I noticed is that myspace is more of a social network or if you're trying to promote something. For example, my myspace site (www.myspace.com/phagazine) is actually an extension of my blog site (www.phagazine.com). When I started up my myspace site for my regular site, my hits soared. It was amazing.

Now for the Facebook, it's really for professionals that network. I really like how I can find other employees in my company or other companies that I use work for.

Ducati... if you like Facebook for networking professionally you should really check out Linked in (www.linkedin.com). It's layout is better suited for such a task imo.

Linked In is more the professional site. Facebook seems more mature in that it doesn't have so many doodads and crap everywhere and that makes it faster. But MySpace is still kind of the clear dominant social networking space out there.

uh none of those apply to me. i have my own website, but not one of those. i refuse to visit those sites b/c they are so poorly made. so, "huh?" doesn't work.
