Survey: Do You Still Use a Typewriter?

090908_sz_finalframe.jpgThis one caught us by surprise. A recent article in the LA Times actually talked about US Office Machine Co., a family run repair shop, having a small resurgence....in repairing typewriters. Is it nostalgia?A backlash against technology? With all this talk about shiny new laptops we started wondering.

I grew up pretty much in the age of all things digital (at least that I can remember), but my favorite thing to do when I was visiting my mom at work was to play with her typewriter. I wasn't using anything she needed and I wasn't bothering her or anyone else in the office. I had the greatest time with it. Even in third grade, my teacher had a blue typewriter that we could play with if we got our assignments done quickly or did a good job on something. Typewriters really have a wonderful mystique about them. I really can't see them going away anytime too soon.

My household is all digital, but if I could afford it, I would buy a vintage Hermes in a heartbeat.

My boss bought a typewriter to fill out paper forms. Not everything (particularly with the government) is online yet. So typewriters still have their practical uses.
