Survey: How Thick is Your Monitor?

2007-07-31lcd.jpgWhat type of monitor do you have? Between our post on Blackle and AT:Green's post on the same, the question was raised, would it be better, from an energy usage perspective, to have a white background or a black background for our sites? (Keep in mind, this debate also doesn't consider aesthetics or ease of viewing.)

So we want to know, do you have an LCD monitor (including laptops) or a CRT monitor? Not sure? How thick is your monitor? If it's only a couple of inches thick, then it's an LCD; if it's got a big rear end, it's a CRT. Blackle isn't necessarily an energy saver, especially for LCD monitors, but we want to know what type you visit AT on.

As an aside, virtually all of the visible computers in the Smallest, Coolest Home Tech entries were LCD, so there's some sort of social norm that it's more stylish to use that kind.

One LCD and one ancient CRT at work, and 2 LCDs at home.

wende: I think it's also largely about how much space they take up, not just the style factor.

How thick is my monitor? Kind of a personal question, really...
