We recently came upon this concept external hard drive inspired by a ladies make-up compact. We've seen manufacturers try to pander to their idea of what women want before, which made us wonder, is it beneficial to design gadgets for different sexes? Or is it insulting?

If there is a reason for gender-specific design, I say go for it! All the hullabaloo surrounding the ponytail-friendly headrest in Volvo's feminine prototype confused me - that would come in really handy for me!
Items with no reason however, such as this hard drive, are just pandering. I'm not insulted by them, just turned off by them, especially when there's a price increase to go along with the new feminine design.

If the were gender specific you could breed more gadgets at home.

i'm tired of their ideas of female worthy gadgets having to be pink. I can only stand the pink for so long :P
