If you've ever gone to a spa you've probably noticed that pebbles and rocks play a large part in the décor. There's something relaxing about carefully arranged rock gardens, so it makes sense that you would want to transfer that mood to when you're watching a movie...
This media center incorporates a rock garden underneath the entertainment console. It looks like you could avoid having a custom rock holder made if you could find a shallow, but large, plant tray or an industrial steel tray like this, or a commercial fiberglass tray like this.

I love the way this looks but I can just imagine all the drifts of cat fur that would get caught in it. I can also imagine my cats playing with the rocks and getting them EVERYWHERE. Maybe if I glued them down. (The rocks, not the cats)
