Tech Tour: David's Tribute to Apple, Ergotron and Screenrecycler

Name: David Linke
Location: Germany

David wrote in after seeing our recent DIY Mac mini Mount post, making an argument that Mac mini's are not meant to hide at all: "I think a Mac mini really pretties every desk, so why hide would you it? I'd always rather wall- or desk-mount my screens and let the Mini stay where it belongs...though I have to admit it's not really a small desk."

He shared his stylish workspace with is, which includes a dual swivel Ergotron monitor setup complimenting his mini with an adjacent Apple laptop to keep him efficiently operating while working as a web designer in Germany. Thanks for sharing, David!

Sweet, but why do so many people continue to hang their pictures so high?

Good morning folks! Wow, those guys at unplggd are damn quick.. directly catched up my lil comments link and made a whole post of it?! :) no problem, nice that you like it, as well!

@FightTheFuture: it definitely is! working 24/7 in front of these screens I had to make my little home office a more inspirering and comfortable place to - just as you said - get lost on a project. Now it's nearly finished - I'm only looking to replace the screens with Apple's Cinema Displays somewhen (hopefully one night i'll go mad and can somehow justify their price tag ;)

Cheers, David

Did you mean the one just behind the lamp (hosting 2nd keyboard and mouse)? That's a real cheap tiny table from Ikea (about 10 bucks). So don't rely on it as a seating solution but as a lil' bed table it does it's job very well.

Hello!

Nice place =)

I'm just curious about your desks- the desk tops look like plywood, but how did you make the desk legs? They kind of look like atrist/painter easels.

Thanks for the info in advance!

Regards,
Thground

Hi thground,

you're completely right! These are artist/painter easels from a DIY store in Germany. Just as simple and cheap as the desk tops, though it was hard to find some which legs are adjustable in height (front and back separately) and don't have a broad bottom like those from IKEA.

Mine where produced by "Allgäuer Werkstätten" ( http://www.allgaeuer-werkstaetten.de ) in Germany but if you go trought some big DIY stores in your hometown I'm sure you will find something that just fits your needs as well.

Cheers and good luck,
David

Great setup David. The Ergotron looks very interesting. Where is the Mac mini hiding?

The mini sits below the MBP and fits perfectly between the gavels of the Griffin Elevator
