Digital Luggage Scale

070109_LuggageScale.jpg

We have to confess, weighing suitcases at our house usually looks like a scene from the Keystone Cops. Mom's favorite technique involves weighing herself, then weighing herself holding the suitcase. This works marginally better than her previous technique which involved setting the suitcase directly on the scale, then frantically trying to see the partially covered weight readout while stretched out on the floor. With those pictures in your head, you can understand why we were so delighted to discover this little gadget on a recent trip to the Container Store...

This digital luggage scale weighs only 8oz and accurately weighs suitcases up to 88lbs. This device is fabulously easy to use- loop it over the handle of your suitcase, then pick up using the handle of the scale, and voila, the weight of your suitcase is displayed. No contortions, no mathematical equations- just lift and hold. This is without a doubt the best $15 we've ever spent on a travel-related gadget; Mom was so happy with her little present that she rushed out to buy a couple to bring back to her family in Ireland.

If I bought a scale this would be the one - digital, easier to read. But honestly, in all my years of traveling my bags have never gone over 50lbs each

I got a luggage scale from Target a few years ago. It's not digital & from what I could tell its never quite right on money. Always seems to be about 4lbs off.

In the big move from NYC back to TX this summer there was a lot of shuffling items into emptier bags because the scale was wrong and I didn't wanna get charged overweight bag fees.
