MP3 players seem pretty ubiquitous... but we want to know: Are they as prevalent as we think they are? Do you have one?

I'd love an iPod - I travel by train and plane a lot, and it would be great to listen to the radio and podcasts I never get a chance to hear - plus it would be a great marketing tool - I have friends who keep versions of their portfolios on their iPods to whip out and share at conferences, meetings, etc.
Just haven't had the time/money for one yet, I've only moved into the 21st century quite recently.

An 60gig ipod video. My favourite and most treasured gadget.
I've had it for over a year and I've still only managed to fill 25gig worth of mp3s.

I just moved from an iPod Nano to an iRiver Clix2. It doesn't *quite* fit in my jeans change pocket as well as the iPod did, but it now does video and has a damn cool UI.

I have an Olympus digital recorder with detachable flash drive. It will play MP3s. I also have an iPAQ that will do it. I just haven't gotten around to ripping any CDs or buying any files.
I'll use the iPAQ for commuting/walking around and the Olympus at the gym, I think. Having the iPAQ at the gym would not be a good idea.
I might even continue to use my yellow cassette Walkman in a Case Logic belt pack. I can listen to my beloved tapes that were made for me while I bike/row my heart out. It'll give the 20-somethings a few yucks.

2 iPods for me: 80GB of the current generation; and 4GB first generation Nano (primarily for working out). But I'm thinking of getting an additional 30GB and splitting the content between that and my 80GB. (Tip: Apple online store has refurb'd current generation 30GB on sale for $169 until July.)
I can't live without this gadget.

I bought a 5GB Rio Carbon that I got off woot! for $100 about a year ago. While no it doesn't have the video capabilities or the nice, clean look of the iPod, it does exactly what I want it to do - play music. Plus I don't have to deal with DRM'd files. And because it shows up in Windows as a hard drive, I can copy files to it for storage for shuttling back and forth from home to work. The software it comes with works about the same as iTunes, though I don't have the online store option - it's just for organizing the files on my PC and the Rio. Did I mention the battery generally lasts about 20 hours on a charge? My wife has a 30GB current generation iPod video and she loves it (even though she only listens to music with it), but for my $100 I'm thrilled with my Rio.

I have an iPod Shuffle (first edition), but I have to admit that I use it more for data storage and transfer than for music playing.

i was always against getting an ipod because i thought it was so much of a fad more than anything else. in asian countries there are so many options out there that paying for an ipod would only seem silly. however, a little over a year ago i got a 60gb ipod for free from my brother and since then i've migrated to a 1gb shuffle for workouts. i keep the 60gb docked on the bose speakers that i also got free from my brother while only bringing the shuffle out with me. it's extremely crucial for when i'm at the gym since it just clips on. i love the shuffle although i wouldn't pay the big bucks for the other ones.

i agree with mei. i got a 40GB 4th generation for free - my mom won it and gave it to me - and i only use it at home. i bought her a shuffle (she didn't want one with a screen and wanted me to just upload playlists on it for her) and i'm considering buying one for myself for working out, as well. i really need to buy one of those ishark things so i can use it in my car - that's the only place my cds get all scratched.
