If you're like us, you're LCD lovers that longed for the perfect desktop monitor. That is, a monitor that didn't leave an gaping chasm in our wallets, but still featured all the up-to-date options at the time. Well folks, it looks like Dell has heard our calling, with the announcement of their newest addition to their consumer LCD monitors family, the SX series. And by the looks of it, they might've hit it right on the money in terms of best value in its class. More juicy details, after the jump.
From the Full-HD 1920x1080p resolution to the integrated webcam with facial recognition, it seems like this sharp new vivid screen has more than just a simple makeover up its sleeve.
The back panel of the monitor is actually a new look for the Dell LCD series, featuring a slick white plastic backing that creates a comfortable complement to all of today's modern tech.
With the addition of a sleek new base (and enough inputs to make your Apple Cinema run home crying to her mother - including HDMI, DVI-D w/ HDCP, 4 USB, audio in/out) makes for a winning formula that already has our empty wallets open, just begging for a taste of this rock-solid piece of technological art.
You can grab yours now on Dell.com for a mere $279.

The price is great. But what's with the stand? It looks off-balance and cheesy.

Fairly certain the answer is, you don't.

What a post... do some research
This is a cheap TN based panel. It is not a good or accurate monitor by any stretch of imagination.
It is a good deal for mom and papa to check email on...
NOTHING MORE

@nafai23: And a Bang & Olufsen stereo doesn't have 'audiophile' sound. But the design is gorgeous, it meets the needs of the customers, and people who buy it are happy with their intended purposes.
This monitor balances style, price, functionality, and capabilities with an emphasis on style and price, while doing a good job of pulling in most of the functionality and necessarily leaving out the capabilities of more expensive monitors.
Since this isn't ars technica or tom's hardware guide, and the emphasis here isn't on hardcore gaming or other high-end graphics editing work, it seems to me that the article makes perfect sense.

RJHD3, the problem is that the article stated that, "by the looks of it, they might've just released the greatest monitor of all time." That implies that this is more than just a cheap (in price and function) monitor that happens to look better than most Dell gear.
For the record, I also think it looks pretty bad ("cheesy," as another poster put it, seems pretty accurate to me), so I think its entire inclusion here was misguided. But that's just me.

Yeah, a TN panel would be the only sacrifice I can see here. The rest of the options are excellent for the price. Until the Apple monitors don't start costing 2-3 this amount, I'd rather spend it on this one and save the rest of my money for something else. My only gripe is really the stand, but I know the back is designed that way for wire management.. ah well..

RJHD3,
my only issue is with that this monitor is presented as, finally the best monitor of all time has been released.....
It is an attractive low end monitor with a nice price tag.
I am amazed at the amount of misinformation in the posts(blog posts themselves) here.

what happened to the thread that was here?
Didn't seem to go against any policy?
The question from someone was....
how do you put it on a mount (arm or otherwise).
The answer was...it doesn't appear possible.

I have been using this Dell LCD and I am pretty much satisfied as the resolution it gives is one of the best resolutions I have ever got from LCD's I have used - And the price is also moderate not that much expensive. At the end I simply liked this Dell LCD
