TV Packaging Stand

2007-07-23-tvstandpackaging.jpg

Buy your TV with the stand. Tom Ballhatchet's design for TV packaging allows for it to be reused as a stand for the television.

The pieces which cushion the television can be reconfigured to form a stand with two shelves for media. The packaging is also designed with wheels for easy transportation. Perfect for someone who moves frequently, and needs an easy means of transporting and setting up their television.

While the prototype is in gray, Tom's site states that it could be made in any color or texture. We're impressed with his ability to make something functional look pretty darn cool as well. For more photos of how it deconstructs, click through the jump.

But... it's packing foam? That doesn't seem good for the environment.

If you don't throw the foam out, what does it matter?

you'll throw it out one day, that's when it will matter.

Everything that we reuse can't be used forever. Eventually everything gets tossed out. The point is to reuse as much as we can before we throw away. That's the point.

I like it. It's not my style now but I totally would have used something like this when I was younger and more mobile.

Not my style, but I think it's a good idea to build upon. Imagine if flat panel shipped with their own matching stands, all created using shipping material? As noted above, we throw out so much already. Why not give them extra life and use?
