For all you integrated technology streamliners (you know, the OCD types who must have their tech working in tandem throughout their daily lives) - yeah, we know we're probably one of those folks - well, this news is for you. With internet-enabled television sets coming around the corner in the next few months, we're finding ourselves more and more at the edge of our seats waiting for our next biggest tech fix since connecting two extra-large widescreen monitors to our laptop - TV widgets.
According to a recent survey by The Diffusion Group, nearly 80% of people, in a survey of 2,000 television consumers, are very interested in seeing apps integrated into their TVs. The favorite application people are looking forward to happen to be a widget that lets them quickly find and watch an episode of current season TV shows that they may have missed or had the desire to watch again. Yeah, we know what you're thinking, "Hey, DVRs do that for you, no?" Well, yeah, but for those forgetful type, this would be the perfect solution whenever they happen to miss recording one of their shows.
Other highlights include a weather widget, an on-demand movie app, and an interactive TV-show app to speak with other people enjoying the show with you from around the world.
One app we'd love to see someone create would be one to let us stream files from our computer to our TV wirelessly. We're well aware you can do this already via media servers and a set top box/gaming console, but another option doesn't hurt, right?
What would be an app you'd look forward to? Let us know in the comments!

Not sure about an app per se.
But I think it would be really, really cool if you guys put together a post that breaks down the various ways of integrating your computer to your tv.
You guys have tons of incredibly useful posts already for doing this but I guess I want cake and eat too.
For instance, I've gotten airfoil after reading a post--now I can stream pandora and anything from my browser through my airport. I'm still working on synching video and audio but that's another story.
But with all these things now like hulu and boxee, flickr, you tube and vimeo, pandora, etc. and devices like WD HD, gaming consoles, etc. it seems like there are many gravel paths to achieving my goal of getting the computer to the tv and I'm looking for a nice paved road right now. I don't necessarily care which one--just one.
